About Maryann Tully, L.Ac., Dipl. ac.
I became fascinated and inspired by traditional Chinese medicine upon beginning Acupuncture and Chinese herbal treatments to enhance my health in 1980 with an American acupuncturist in California, who was greatly skilled and deeply rooted in art, science and philosophy of living of this ancient medicine. With his encouragement I soon moved to San Francisco to begin my own formal studies at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, graduating in 1985. It was a rich and fulfilling time of study with many great Chinese and American teachers, including two years apprenticing with my first Acupuncturist, whose work with my own health had so strongly motivated me to begin my path to becoming a practitioner myself.

I first obtained my national Acupuncture certification in 1985, and then became a licensed Acupuncturist and herbalist in California in 1986 and practiced there for seven years before returning to live in Tucson to be closer to family in Arizona. I have been blessed with many great opportunities to use and deepen my knowledge and skills, and expand my compassion in patient care since returning here. These opportunities have included work with patients in addiction and trauma recovery at Sierra Tucson, clients from Southern Arizona Aids Foundation, and, for several years, guests in the medical department at Canyon Ranch Health Resort. I also was involved with other colleagues here in two NIH funded research projects at the University of Arizona, studying the effectiveness of use of Acupuncture in the treatment of major depression.
In 2004 I began studies also in Acutonics, a system integrating sound healing, primarily with tuning forks, with the Chinese meridian system to deeply influence the flow of vital energy within us for healing and optimal wellness.
The scope of the conditions that Chinese medicine can and has treated, documented and research over the millennia is very broad and it has been my experience that nearly all patients receive some palpable benefit needed by body or mind from the treatments for the health challenge they are facing.
I have experienced, with my own healing journey in my life and with my work with my patients, that the way of living philosophies, practices and treatments of the natural sciences and traditions of medicine truly are powerful in gentle ways. They can bring us into greater harmony and oneness with ourselves, humanity, and the natural world around us as we move day by day through the joys and challenges of our lives. I am honored to be a part of the vision of Genesis Natural Medicine Center and offer my services here.
